Period and listed buildings
Buckingham's town centre is a conservation area, first designated in 1971, with many listed buildings along Market Hill, West Street and Castle Street. Electrical work in older buildings needs a different approach:
- We route new cables to avoid damaging historic plaster, timber and joinery, using existing voids where we can;
- Surface fittings and trunking are chosen and placed to be discreet;
- If work would affect the character of a listed building, listed building consent may be needed. Speak to Buckinghamshire Council's heritage team before major work, and we'll work to whatever they agree.
Old buildings also hide old wiring. An EICR is the sensible first step before a sale, a purchase or a renovation.
