Milton Keynes homes and their electrics
Milton Keynes has more variety in its housing than people expect, and the electrics vary with it:
- 1970s and 1980s estates such as Netherfield, Fishermead, Beanhill, Coffee Hall, Heelands and Greenleys were built in the city's first decades. Many still have early consumer units without RCD protection, and decades of alterations. These are the homes we most often find C2 observations in.
- Older towns absorbed into the city, like Wolverton, Bletchley, Stony Stratford and Newport Pagnell, include Victorian and Edwardian terraces where the wiring may have been replaced in stages, sometimes leaving older cable in place.
- Newer grid squares such as Broughton, Brooklands, Oxley Park, Whitehouse and Fairfields are mostly modern installations with RCBO boards. The questions there are usually about adding sockets, garden power, lighting or a cooker circuit, or a landlord's first EICR.
